Overview
Cannes 2025 Prix Spécial winner Resurrection is a thrilling and hypnotic voyage from the director of Long Day's Journey Into Night. In a near future/present humanity has lost the ability to dream, but during brain surgery a woman (Shu Qi) finds her consciousness slipping into an eternal time zone. She enters the dreams of an android (Jackson Yee) and together they spin tales recounting the history of China- tales that blur the line between memory, myth, and desire. A transportive trip through eras of cinema, from the silent film to the present day, Resurrection solidifies Bi Gan as one of the most daring filmmakers working today.

Kaili Blues director Bi Gan is back with his signature long takes and consciousness-expanding trips through time with Resurrection. Reuniting with favoured DOP Dong Jingsong (Wild Goose Lake) and new collaborators including a soundtrack by M83's Anthony Gonzalez and frequent Wong Kar-wai lighting director Wong Chi Ming, Bi Gan works to expand what's been called his "somnambular realism" style into an epoch-illustrating saga.
