Overview
Veneno (Victor Prieto) is a twentysomething drifter, eking out a precarious living by picking up men at pitstops on highways running through the deserts of Mexico. At one of these cachimbas long-haul trucker Muñeco (Osvaldo Sanchez) offers him a ride and a tentative friendship unfolds between the hustler and the older married man, until an impulsive decision brings violent ghosts from Veneno's past down upon them.

Tackling thorny questions of machismo and intimacy, On the Road plays out romance inside a pulsing neo-noir thriller that feeds off the chemistry of its two leads. The stoic, immovable Sanchez and live-wire Prieto play off each other beautifully in a ceaseless push-pull of shifting power dynamics, while writer-director David Pablos creates an atmospheric and dangerous demimonde around them.
