Sex, Dreams, Love: The Oslo Trilogy

Making waves with its Golden Bear win at Berlin and its recent Sydney Film Festival run, the enthralling coming-of-age tale Dreams (Sex, Love) also happens to bookend an extraordinary trilogy by novelist-turned-director Dag Johan Haugerud – not to be confused with the other Oslo Trilogy directed by Joachim Trier, who gives his strongest recommendation.

Likened to the works of Éric Rohmer and Krzysztof Kieślowski, this conversational series of thematically linked stories approaches the complexities of human connection, and its friction with contemporary Norwegian society, with refreshing clarity, grace and humour.
