Overview

After her equinesque grandson Champion is kidnapped by a band of mobsters while competing in the Tour de France, Madame Souza and her plump dog Bruno are in quick pursuit across the seas to the city of Belleville – something of a cross between New York, Montreal and Quebec. There, she soon runs into the Triplets of Belleville, an old trio of former ‘30s hall music singers who invite her to their band and aid her rescue mission.

Why You Should See This Film

A surprise hit at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, Sylvain Chomet’s almost wordless debut feature The Triplets of Belleville beguiled many with its sweet, strange whimsy and wildly imaginative animation. Despite scoring many accolades and two Academy Award nominations (competing against Finding Nemo and The Return of the King), it feels as if its since been forgotten, which in our books is a travesty! If gypsy jazz and the pulpier works of Wes Andersson and Jean-Pierre Jeunet strike your fancy, you're in for a doozy.
