Overview

An instant modern classic, Celine Song’s Past Lives stars Greta Lee (Russian Doll), John Magaro (First Cow) and Teo Yoo in a tale of old flames and forking paths. Nora (Lee) and Hae Sung (Teo Yoo) form a special bond growing up in Seoul, where they walk each other home from school every day. They’re split apart when Nora’s family emigrates to Toronto, but their bond remains. Two decades pass by and Nora is now a playwright living in New York with her husband Arthur (Magaro). When Hae Sung comes to visit Nora, they spend one fateful week together, confronting notions of destiny, love and the choices that make a life.

Why You Should See This Film

One of the year’s most critically acclaimed films, Past Lives is shaping up to be an early contender for Best Picture. And with good reason, it is a soaring, superbly written study of modern love and questions of identity that manages to be both personal and universal. If you loved The Worst Person in the World, we think you’ll love this, too.
