Overview

As an L.A. cab driver, you never know who you might meet, or where the night will take you. Max (Jamie Foxx) is having a regular shift behind the wheel of his taxi, and even got the number of a beautiful lawyer, Annie (Jada Pinkett Smith). That’s until Vincent (Tom Cruise) slides into the back seat. A calculating contract killer in town for the night to make a string of hits, Vincent quickly takes Max hostage and forces him to drive from one kill to the next. As one tries to outwit the other, they head on a nighttime odyssey that will change both of their lives, forever.

Why See This Film

Featuring a rare (and very good) villainous performance by Tom Cruise, plus one of the all-time great coyote cameos, Collateral is a gripping, visually striking and surprisingly philosophical thriller. One of our favourite nocturnal films that makes evocative use of the darker side of downtown Los Angeles, it ranks among director Michael Mann’s best films of the past few decades.
