With Louise Weard presented by Queer Screen x Static Vision
“A trans woman in trouble.” — Castration Movie Anthology i. Traps (running 274 minutes with an intermission) contains two chapters: Chapter i. Incel Superman, which follows Turner Stewart, a production assistant who sees his world spiral out of control as he uncompromisingly attempts to shape his life into the one he feels he deserves, and Chapter ii. Traps Swan Princess, following a trans woman named Michaela "Traps" Sinclair, a sex worker in Vancouver who splits her time between seeing clients and hanging out with her group of trans friends, who finds her relationships strained when she decides to pursue motherhood. This screening is strictly 18+
“Something that cements how bizarre, frustrating, beautiful, ugly, miraculous, and hilarious this particular moment of independent cinema is”
“A Cassavetes-level rawness, a dazed Warholian languor and quotable banter worthy of Kevin Smith”
Writer/director/star Louise Weard will be in attendance as part of her Antipodean tour of Castration Movie, with a cast including Vera Drew (The People's Joker), Ada Rook (Black Dresses) and Alice Maio Mackay (T Blockers). Lock in for a very special daytime screening, part one of this singular epic, a kind of trans Berlin Alexanderplatz that is unlike anything you've seen before and our head of programming's Number 1 film of 2025.
