“To love this land means not to be alone”
Dalia (Ydalie Turk) leaves London to check up on her ageing grandfather Igor (Umberto Orsini, The Damned), an expert truffle hunter living alone in the isolated Piedmont region of Italy with his truffle-hunting dog, Birba (as herself). Despite their differences, the two form and bond and when mortgage creditors close in on Igor's house Dalia embarks on a spectacular journey, to face the dangers of the forest and find the legendary lightning-struck truffle.
“Gorgeous”
“Disarmingly lively...this is definitely its own beast”
“Its essential strangeness means that you won’t forget it in a hurry,”
Trifole is a touching story about intergenerational connection, tradition and the passing down of knowledge. Lead Ydalie Turk co-wrote the screenplay with director Gabriele Fabbro, drawing on the folklore of Piedmont—a region rich in ghosts and forest spirits—to craft a tale where unscrupulous truffle dealers come up against the Cosmic-agrarian uncanny.
