Overview
An atmospheric, surreal and psychologically complex creeper from the maestro of slow-burn horror Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Pulse, Cure), Retribution is a ghostly detective procedural starring frequent collaborator and recent Cannes Best Actor Award winner Koji Yakusho (Cure, Perfect Days). After a woman in a red dress is found dead in a muddy field, one of a series of murders in the same vicinity by the same method, Detective Yoshioka (Yakusho) launches a hunt for the loose serial killer. But when all evidence points to him as the murderer, Yoshioka’s world begins to spiral out of control and he begins to see strange, dreadful things including a ghostly figure in a red dress.
