Writer-director Sebastián Silva’s Sundance hit Rotting in the Sun is an audacious meta-comedy that skewers the business of filmmaking and our self-obsessed culture. While unwinding at a Mexican nude cruising beach, depressed director Sebastián Silva meets gregarious Instagram influencer Jordan Firstman (both playing versions of themselves), and Sebastián reluctantly agrees to collaborate on an upcoming project. But when Jordan arrives back in Mexico City, Sebastián is nowhere to be found. Jordan dances, sleeps and snorts his way through the city as he embarks on a quasi-detective journey to get to the bottom of Sebastián’s disappearance.

“Bold and brilliant”
“The horny, thorny Instagay meta-mystery you’ve been waiting for”
“A hilarious and dazzling feat of self-deprecation”
Chilean director Sebastián Silva (Nasty Baby, Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus) is a cult favourite among cinephiles, with an acerbic wit and impish sensibility that’s seen him work with likeminded collaborators like Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat. His long-awaited latest film sees him (literally) bare all and pair up with Insta-famous comedian Jordan Firstman, who makes an excellent addition to his seductively strange and unpredictable world.
