Overview

In the cutthroat world of real estate, you need to have a killer instinct to chase a lead and land a sale. For some, like Shelley “The Machine” Levene (Jack Lemmon), they used to have it; Dave and George (Ed Harris and Alan Arkin, respectively) will resort to theft for it; and sales leader Ricky Roma (Al Pacino) knows how to close. A machine gun blast of machismo and bravado from writer David Mamet, Glengarry Glen Ross captures the type of middle-aged panic that can befall any soul caught up in the rat race, while, most importantly, elevating cinematic profanity to the highest possible art.

Why See This Film

Adapted for the screen by David Mamet from his Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Glengarry Glen Ross is perhaps one of the best known, and best loved stage-to-screen adaptations. Pacino was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his volcanic performance. Screen legend Jack Lemmon (Some Like It Hot) described it as the best ensemble cast he’d ever been a part of, and the cast even turned up to watch filming on their days off, such was the electric atmosphere on set.
