“No one should know the future, ever”
What if rainbows were people from the future traveling through time? In 2075, a ten-year-old girl, Iris, finds one such rainbow boy from an idyllic far future after he crashes nearby. As a wildfire encroaches upon their small slice of protected suburbia, the two children become fast friends and embark on a thrilling adventure across the eras to return Arco safely home.
Nominee – Best Animated Feature
“Gorgeous, imaginative, heartfelt and hopeful ... the best animated movie of the past year”
“A soulful time-travelling odyssey”
“Absolutely gorgeous... shades of Miyazaki”
After premiering at Cannes and scoring Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations, we’re pleased to finally bring Arco to Golden Age. Drawing comparisons with the works of Hayao Miyazaki and even René Laloux and Jean “Moebius” Giraud, French comic artist Ugo Bienvenu’s wildly imaginative debut feature is full of wondrous worlds, dazzling illustrations and charming characters but also takes a refreshingly mature and optimistic look at the our grim climate-affected future and dares to believe there’s still chance for humanity and the world in the face of total destruction.
