Overview

Satoshi Kon’s hilarious, beautiful and touching Christmas tale Tokyo Godfathers follows the adventures of a de facto homeless family and their quest to return an abandoned baby to her parents. On their Christmas Eve journeys through snowy Tokyo, middle-aged alcoholic Gin, trans woman Hana and teenage runaway Miyuki run into yakuza assassination plots, lost cats, a dying old man and more. While reconciling and reconnecting with their pasts and former families, our three godfathers forge a family of their own.

Why See This Film

Inspired by John Ford’s 3 Godfathers (1948), Satoshi Kon’s warm, Christmassy third feature bursts as strong as ever with his signature imaginative style, a cast of wonderfully compelling characters and a delightfully unpredictable script by Cowboy Bebop writer Keiko Nobumoto.
