STROBE Music Film Festival

Groovescooter's 4th annual STROBE Music Film Festival returns to Golden Age Cinema with a freshly curated batch of new music documentaries, alongside some classic retrospectives. Many of the titles will have their Australian Premieres exclusive to Golden Age, giving Sydneysiders the opportunity to be the first in Australia to enjoy these films. From docs about Brazil’s soul music fuelled political awakening of the ‘70s and the “Rolls Royce” of all festivals, The Montreux Jazz Festival, to deep-dives into artists as diverse as Devo, Luther Vandross, J Dilla and trailblazing Black Trans performer Jackie Shan, there’s something for all music fans at STROBE. Please note: Opening Night Film If The Stars Had A Sound about Scotland’s sonic-sorcerers Mogwai, screens at the Sydney Opera House on August 9.
