“That's all”
Twenty years on from the original, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is an effervescent glass of nostalgia with some surprisingly fresh notes. Andy (Anne Hathaway) is now an award-winning journalist, but after the collapse of print media and mass redundancies she finds herself back with her old boss Miranda (Meryl Streep, finally back on the big screen). Despite the efforts of unflappable right hand man Nigel (Stanley Tucci), finance bros and the enshittification of our times threatens even the legendary Runway Magazine, so Andy reunites with frenemy Emily (Emily Blunt) in a valiant effort to salvage glamour.
“A deliciously funny fluff of a film”
“A legacy sequel made with love and executed with flair”
“An artful blending of the new and the old”
Of course the clothes, the banter and an impeccable cast all at the top of their comic (at times surprisingly heartfelt) game, but most of all because this is an elegy for the closing of a Gilded Age told with wit and charm.. In amongst the fashion montages and location hopping, The Devil Wears Prada 2 finds time for some pithy observations on how in the last couple of decades everything has been made worse by a group of billionaires wearing skinny cargo pants and quarter-zip fleece.
