Overview

Hailed as one of the greatest films of the last decade, the Coen Brothers’ (Fargo, The Big Lebowski) Oscar-sweeping neo-Western No Country For Old Men returns in a breathtaking new 4K restoration. Out in the desert of 1980 West Texas, Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) stumbles upon the aftermath of a drug deal gone wrong and runs away with a briefcase containing two million dollars. Meanwhile, a strange hitman Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) begins a hunt for the missing money, with local Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) hot on their trail.

Why You Should See This Film

An electrifying deconstruction of the Western, the Coens’ take on Cormac McCarthy's acclaimed novel deserves unending praise; Denis Villeneuve called it his favourite film of the 21st Century and in a rare moment of unity, both Margaret and David awarded it five stars. Beautifully lensed by Roger Deakins, minimally scored by Carter Burwell and propelled by killer performances from Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones, it’s Javier Bardem’s Academy Award-winning Anton Chigurh that really drives this film in all its nauseating suspense – a chilling entity who seemingly walked from the a different movie to wreak a kind of havoc no one understands.
