Following the release of their debut single ‘Bet Me’ in July (which was described by Triple J as ‘…. sounding like the universe’) Joan Banoit launch the epic, electronic baroque pop soundscapes of their second single ‘Mount Agony’ off their forthcoming debut album. Informed as much by the modern electronica of Jlin, Arca, Burial and Autechre as they are classic synth pop, art rock and modern composition, Joan Banoit’s uncategorisable and enormous live sound (replete with a new four piece band) should provide something quite magical in the atmospheric intimacy of our stage.
Gussy is a Sydney based producer, songwriter and performer whose left-of-centre pop music incidentally advocates for, and challenges the way queer (particularly gender non-conforming and transgender) narratives are consumed by a non-queer/cis audience. Last year they released their singles 'Mornings' and 'In Order To Love', with support from the likes of the FADER, VICE and PAPER Magazine and after a hiatus they are preparing for the release of their debut EP.
