Poetic and impassioned, Huck Hastings makes artful and affecting pop that will work its way deep under your skin. Hastings’ debut single 'Exorcism' hit the top of the Triple J Unearthed charts in its first week, catapulting him into the vanguard of Sydney’s folk scene. His subsequent crowdfunded seven-song debut EP “Huckleberry Blues” – an intimate and angst-riddled affair, detailing the turmoils of a young man coming to terms with himself and his skin – cemented his reputation as one of Sydney’s most engaging young songwriters.
Since then, Hastings has been hard at work. In addition to performing widely – both solo and as the singer of indie-pop outfit Hollow States (the Sydney support for Olympia’s “Different Cities” tour with two EPs of its own) – Hastings took a brief hiatus to write a commanding body of new work, releasing the lead single ('Hey Babe?') accompanying music video In October of last year. 'Hey Babe?' was added to rotation on FBi Radio upon its released and earned Hastings a spot as their independent artist of the week, along with international support from digital and print media. His next single 'Soft' serves as an epilogue to his current body of work.
Motion Sickness is an indie-rock trio based in Sydney’s Inner West. After years of various band incarnations, Sydney singer-songwriter Maia Marsh began working with Harry Fuller (bass) and Cash Williams (drums) in 2018. What was seemingly another embodiment of Marsh’s solo work, started to manifest into a brand-new project; Motion Sickness. Combining parts of Marsh’s back catalogue of striking and introspective writing with a newly found element of grunge and angst, the vision of the band stems from the awkward and sometimes nauseating moments of personal and emotional progression.
“For me mainly the feeling of motion sickness is not always being comfortable with moving forward. Also, I’m quite a nauseous person”. With renowned musician and engineer, Pete Covington (Thelma Plum, Jack River, Annie Hamilton) behind the desk, Motion Sickness will release their debut single ‘Any Excuse’ on October 3rd, 2019, on all streaming services.
