Following a tragic high school shooting, teen survivor Celeste (Raffey Cassidy) turns to writing music about her experience with sister Ellie (Stacy Martin – Redoubtable) while recuperating from a bullet wound in hospital. After performing their first song at a candlelight vigil, Celeste captures the attention of the public and is launched into instant stardom, enabled by a hotshot manager (Jude Law), with Ellie never far behind. Fast-forward to 2017 and 31 year old Celeste (Natalie Portman) is now a pop icon with drug and alcohol issues and a neglected teen daughter (Cassidy) on the verge of a mega-concert in her hometown while dealing with a media meltdown.
