Overview

Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst lead this all-star adaptation of Anne Rice’s beloved gothic horror novel. Born as an 18th-century lord, Louis (Brad Pitt) is now a bicentennial vampire, telling his story to an eager biographer (Christian Slater). Suicidal after the death of his family, he meets Lestat (Tom Cruise), a vampire who persuades him to choose immortality over death and become his companion. Eventually, gentle Louis resolves to leave his violent maker, but Lestat guilts him into staying by turning a young girl (Kirsten Dunst) – whose addition to the "family" breeds even more conflict.

Why You Should See This Film

Anne Rice was famously opposed to the casting of the Cruise as Lestat, saying it’s “so bizarre, it's almost impossible to imagine how it's going to work”. After seeing and being pleasantly surprised by his performance, she called Cruise to admit she was wrong. We agree – Cruise may seem like an odd choice at first, but he makes it work! Alongside Pitt and Dunst, they make the undead family a movie-lover’s dreams are made of, and the final film is gorgeously gothic and enchantingly strange.

The World Is a Vampire: A Bloody Shiraz Gin & Film Festival

Crawl out of your crypt and join our friends at Four Pillars Gin for The World Is a Vampire: A Bloody Shiraz Gin & Film Festival this winter. Throughout August, we’re bringing you a season of vampires so hot, you’d never guess their blood runs cold.

Spanning five weeks, the series ventures from A Date with Dracula (What We Do in the Shadows, Bram Stoker’s Dracula), The Vampire Chronicles (Interview with the Vampire, Queen of the Damned), Undead Icons (The Hunger, Vampire’s Kiss), Bloodsucking Blockbusters (From Dusk Till Dawn, Blade), all the way to Modern Vamps (Only Lovers Left Alive, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night).

And of course, each week gets a Bloody Shiraz Gin cocktail to match. For Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned we'll be serving Thêâtre des Vampires, a fruity combination of Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin, apple & rubarb, orange bitters and dry vermouth.
