Overview

Wesley Snipes is Blade, the Daywalker, a half-vampire, half-mortal leading a secret war against the vampire scourge while fighting his own thirst for blood. After raiding a vampire-blood-rave, Blade saves Karen (N'Bushe Wright), a hematologist bitten by one of her vampire patients, with the help of his old friend Abraham Whistler (Kris Kristofferson). As Karen researches a cure for vampirism, Blade catches the attention of upstart vampire Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) and his underworld syndicate who plot to wipe the vampire-hunter out and awaken an ancient evil.

Why You Should See This Film

Preceding The Matrix in its leather-clad late-nineties-ness, and being singlehandedly responsible for the entire modern Marvel comic book movie craze, Blade is a swinging, slashing techno-bopper, chock-full of martial arts action and urban fantasy horror. Perhaps his most iconic role, Wesley Snipes makes this movie with his kickass karate, dark warparounds, toothy grins and quotable quips. From the iconic blood-rave scene to a brilliant line regarding ice-skating, Blade must be seen loud with a crowd.

The World Is a Vampire: A Bloody Shiraz Gin & Film Festival

Crawl out of your crypt and join our friends at Four Pillars Gin for The World Is a Vampire: A Bloody Shiraz Gin & Film Festival this winter. Throughout August, we’re bringing you a season of vampires so hot, you’d never guess their blood runs cold.

Spanning five weeks, the series ventures from A Date with Dracula (What We Do in the Shadows, Bram Stoker’s Dracula), The Vampire Chronicles (Interview with the Vampire, Queen of the Damned), Undead Icons (The Hunger, Vampire’s Kiss), Bloodsucking Blockbusters (From Dusk Till Dawn, Blade), all the way to Modern Vamps (Only Lovers Left Alive, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night).

And of course, each week gets a Bloody Shiraz Gin cocktail to match. For From Dusk Till Dawn and Blade we'll be serving our Dhampir, a tropical elixir comprised of Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin, Jamaican rum, apricot brandy, pomegranate, lime and bitters.
