Top End Wedding
From celebrated director Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) comes a feel-good, utterly joyous wedding trip to the Northern Territory. Young lawyers Lauren (Miranda Tapsell) and Ned (Gwilym Lee) are engaged and deeply in love. But just ten days out from their dream wedding, Lauren’s mother (Ursula Yovich) has gone missing in the throes of a midlife crisis. In order to find her, the couple go on an impromptu (and visually stunning) road trip across northern Australia. Along the way they find fulfilment, wild natural beauty and a coterie of charming characters. But will they reunite their errant family members in time for their impending nuptials?
Why You Should See This Film
Both a cinematic love letter to northern Australia and a playful riff on romantic comedy tropes, Top End Wedding is yet another poignant gem from director Blair. Co-written by its glowing star Miranda Tapsell, it’s a loving tribute to the Darwin community and simply packed to the rafters with laugh-out-loud humour.
