Overview

Professional jewel thief Frank (James Caan) is the last guy in the world you want to mess with. A seasoned pro, Frank just needs one last big job before he can leave his life of crime and start a family with his girl Jessie (Tuesday Weld). This final job materialises in the form of a big L.A. diamond heist organised by Chicago gangster Leo (Robert Prosky), who admires Frank’s professionalism and expert safecracking skills. Frank agrees to the job, but it turns out to be far more complicated than he'd ever anticipated.

Why You Should See This Film

One of the great debut films, Thief announced a master stylist in the form of director Michael Mann. Featuring one of James Caan’s best and most riveting performances as Frank, Thief stands tall among the finest examples of the heist genre. This screening is dedicated to Caan, who gave us so many memorable performances in The Godfather, Misery, Elf, The Gambler and more.
