Overview

A breath of fresh air in terms of original sci-fi, Gareth Edwards’ visually spectacular film The Creator is set during a war between humans and artificial intelligence. Joshua (John David Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Gemma Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war and mankind itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory, only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child (Madeleine Yuma Voyles).

— Empire
“An intriguing, stimulating, exhilarating movie”
— The Guardian
“The most impressive and immersive sci-fi movie of the year”
— The AV Club

Why You Should See This Film

Visually inventive and truly awe-inspiring original sci-fi movies are far and few between these days, so when something as special as The Creator comes along, it stops you in your tracks. This is a film to savour, incredibly shot by Oscar-winning Australian cinematographer Greig Fraser (Dune) using real locations and an astonishingly small crew.
