Overview

Aalto explores the extraordinary life and creative output of pioneering Finnish architect Alvar Aalto (1898 – 1976). Together with his wife, architect Aino Aalto (1894 – 1949), Aalto sought to humanise architecture, with their designs notable for a focus on natural materials, ingenious use of lighting and an intuitive relationship with their surroundings. Considered to be central figures in the history of modern design, the Aaltos rose to international renown after projects such as the Vyborg Library in Russia and the Paimio Sanatorium in Finland, as well as for the enormously influential modern furniture company, Artek.

PRESENTED BY RIGHT ANGLE STUDIO

Right Angle Studio has started a number of successful businesses, including Melbourne’s Rooftop Cinema, Sydney’s Golden Age Cinema & Bar and most recently, Paramount Recreation Club. We do these projects because our cities need them, because we learn from them and because we enjoy taking our own risks.

We also do work for clients. The majority are big, such as AMP Capital, Mirvac, Tourism Victoria, Lendlease, Monash University, Stockland, GPT, City of Sydney and CommBank. We also work with niche businesses like COS, The Future Laboratory, MCA, Hotel Hotel, Propertuity and Unlisted Collection. For us, the important thing is not the company’s size but rather its capacity to be an agent of positive change in the lives of its customers.

Our clients come to us because we have creative talent, a calm and confident approach to business, and a unique understanding of inner-urban audiences. Our exclusive focus on this group across Australia and internationally is why we consistently deliver insightful research, elegant strategies and unique creative on behalf of clients who want to be a meaningful part of inner-urban life.
