Overview

Gaining rave reviews and a screenwriting award from Sundance 2020, Nine Days is a highly imaginative 'spiritual sci-fi' from debut director Edson Oda. Will (Winston Duke) is a selector. When a vacancy opens up for a new soul to be born into the world, it's his job to choose the best candidate. Five contenders arrive, all vying for one space. Over nine days, Will assesses their suitability for life. The victor will be rewarded with the chance to enter the real world, while the others face oblivion. One candidate, Emma (Zazie Beetz), leads Will on his own existential journey, leading him to consider a different path for himself. A bold, philosophical film carried off with rare skill, Nine Days is a unique and promising debut.

Why You Should See This Film

With an ambitious high concept that's gained comparisons to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Nine Days is the kind of film that doesn’t come around too often. With expert world-building and a strong visual style, it’s no surprise that Spike Jonze served as one of the film’s producers.
