Overview

Prepare for a hallucinogenic, quirkily funny and infectiously charming night on the town. From visionary anime director Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game), Night is Short, Walk on Girl is a dizzying comedy following a fearless teen known only as "The Girl with Black Hair" as she spends an epic evening travelling across Kyoto. Moving from one visually surreal encounter to the next – and sipping copious cocktails along the way – she parties, pirouettes and paces through the city ... all the while unaware of the romantic longings of Senpai, a fellow student eager to win her heart.

"Colourful, madcap, and surprisingly sweet ... the best nocturnal romp you never had, and a dizzying reignition of rom-com formula."
— Paste Magazine
"A highly original work by an artist who follows his own vision - wherever it leads."
— Los Angeles Times

Why You Should See This Film

Combining a smorgasbord of elaborate animation styles, Night is Short, Walk on Girl is as heady and eye-popping as the cocktails downed throughout by our titular heroine. As she and her would-be beau dart around Kyoto – jumping from book fairs to religious festivals and more – the film slyly upends genre conventions and delivers a welcome twist on the well-worn romantic comedy formula.
