Overview

A tonic for our tumultuous times, Max Richter’s Sleep follows the acclaimed composer as he prepares to stage his world-famous eight-hour performance of Sleep in Los Angeles’ Grand Park. Combining reflections from Richter and his long-time creative partner Yulia Mahr, along with footage from other performances around the world including the Sydney Opera House, Berlin and Paris, this documentary provides an immersive behind-the-scenes insight into Richter's creative process. A landmark work that takes place from dusk until dawn, Richter describes Sleep as both a lullaby and a protest to our industrialised, intense, mechanised way of living.

“Genuinely blissful”
— Empire
“A unique film about the healing nature of song”
— Little White Lies
“A dreamy exploration of Richter’s music”
— Cinevue
