"Damn the man, save the Empire!" This film has it all. It’s a '90s cult classic, it's set in an indie record store, it stars Liv Tyler and Ethan Embry, and the plot is all about staying true to your roots. Threatened by the fat cats of corporate chain Music Town, Delaware’s struggling vinyl store Empire Records is on the brink of closing down. One employee (Rory Cochrane) takes it upon himself to convert a day’s worth of shop takings into enough money to save the business by winning big at a casino. Nevertheless, Empire Records appears doomed. But, because the shop employs pretty much every major actor of the 90s, if they all band together to help raise the funds … they might just damn the man!
Why You Should See This Film
[Cue eye roll] Really? You need us to convince you to watch EMPIRE RECORDS? Fine. The cast features Renée Zellweger, Robin Tunney, Brandon Sexton III, Debi Mazar, Anthony LaPaglia, musician Coyote Shivers and more. It was directed by Allan Moyle (Pump Up the Volume), the soundtrack rivals Reality Bites for '90s intensity and it features the best film-within-a-film ever (Say No More, Mon Amour, anyone?). Seriously. Just book already.
