Overview

Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and made over the course of a decade, Raoul Peck's extraordinary documentary explores the history of racism in the USA, connecting the legacy of the Civil Rights movement to the contemporary Black Lives Matter movement. Based on an unfinished manuscript by iconic writer and critic James Baldwin, I Am Not Your Negro weaves together Baldwin’s accounts of the lives of activists Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr and Medgar Evers, with his own razor-shop critiques and social commentary.
