Overview

Anchored by a tremendous, award-winning performance from Laure Calamy (Antoinette in the Cevennes, Call My Agent!), Full Time is a gripping French workplace thriller with echoes of Uncut Gems. Julie (Calamy) is a single mother whose job as the head maid at a five-star hotel in Paris demands a long commute, and inflexible hours. Her big chance at a better life beckons, when she gets a job interview at a high-paying consulting firm. However, a national train strike threatens to upend Julie’s meticulously laid plans, causing untold strife in her current job, her childcare options, as well as her chances at securing a new career.

Winner: Best Director, Best Actress
— Venice Film Festival 2021

— David Stratton, The Australian
“A performance of superb intimacy and credibility. Laure Calamy has an extraordinary ability to project warmth, as well as strength”
— Paul Byrnes, The Sydney Morning Herald
“An impressive, superbly staged class thriller. Exciting, propulsive, and very compassionate”
— Jason di Rosso, ABC Radio National
“Every bit as janglingly stressful as Uncut Gems
— Wendy Ide, Screen International

Why You Should See This Film

We highly, highly recommend this film. Not a second is wasted in its taut 88-minute runtime, and it miraculously makes a seemingly small-stakes story of one woman’s hustle to get through a particularly stressful week take on enormous importance. Calamy is totally captivating in the lead role, framed mostly in close-ups, cementing herself as one of the top French actors working today.
