Overview

Featuring James Lavelle, DJ Shadow, Joshua Homme, Badly Drawn Boy, Robert Del Naja (3D), Ian Brown, Futura, Thom Yorke and Grandmaster Flash.

“Exhilarating… Shadow climbing over literal mountains of vinyl is worth the price of admission alone.” – Variety

Celebrating the heyday of vinyl culture and a high point for the independent dance music industry, The Man From Mo’Wax is a revealing portrait of James Lavelle and his pioneering record label Mo'Wax. With boundless energy, Lavelle's phenomenal rise to fame came early, and this tastefully crafted doc charts both the subsequent ups and downs in a remarkable life and career. DJ, producer, global trip hop mogul, Lavelle is is laid bare alongside family, friends, colleagues and rivals. From his early days, through digging in dank basements for records alongside DJ Shadow, to the present day and his enduring UNKLE project, this is a great story and terrific piece of filmmaking.
