Overview
Undisputed ‘90s icons Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe star as wealthy, conniving Manhattan step-siblings Kathryn and Sebastian. Kathryn has hatched a scheme to get revenge on her ex-boyfriend, using inexperienced patsy Cecile (Selma Blair) as her pawn. Meanwhile, Sebastian is plotting to win over conservative classmate Annette (Reese Witherspoon) to prove that her moralising rhetoric is baloney. Together the devious pair strike a salacious wager in this teen adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ delectable French confection Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Along the way, there’s blackmail, double-crossing, secrets aplenty, a closeted jock, Joshua Jackson, Christine Baranski and a wonderfully ‘90s soundtrack to boot.
