Overview

On the Fourth of July 1996 in Southport, North Carolina, four partying friends accidentally hit a pedestrian while driving to the beach. They frantically dump the body in the water and decided to never discuss the event again. A year later, the friends reconvene when Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) receives a frightening letter telling her that their crime had a witness. So begins a frenzy of vengeful bloodletting as a mysterious man with a meat hook stalks the remaining teens, including Barry (Ryan Phillippe), Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar).
