Overview

It's high time you met the most unusual group of nuns in America, bar none. In the town of Merced, California, a sisterhood of habit-wearing activists run an illegal cannabis farm. Led by the highly-revered and widely-feared Sister Kate, they use their crop to make medicine for everything from epilepsy to cancer, fighting against the authorities, the local sheriff and violent cartels. Determined to provide products to those in need, Kate will stop at nothing to defend her farm in this documentary tale of rebellion, hope and revival.

Why You Should See This Film

Once a high-flying corporate executive, Sister Kate first turned to cannabis farming after her stealing, polygamist husband of 17 years left her and her children penniless, their American dream fast unravelling. With a keen mind for business and a ruthless exterior toughened by years of hardship, running her medicinal-marijuana empire is a labour of love, an often life-threatening commitment and – above all – a spiritual calling. After settling in for this joint, you'll likely never look at a woman of the cloth the same way again.
